1. Introduction
We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Periody (the "App") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and related services. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. This policy applies to all users on both the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android) platforms.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information to provide you with a personalized and seamless experience:
A. Health & Personal Data (Stored Locally)
Your sensitive health data is yours. The following information is stored locally on your device and is never shared with advertisers or any third-party ad networks:
- Menstrual cycle dates and history
- Symptoms, moods, and notes
- Weight and BMI data
- Water intake logs
If you uninstall the app, this data is permanently deleted from your device unless you have performed your own backup.
B. User Profile Data
Profile Information: We may collect your name and general profile settings (like age) which are stored locally on your device to personalize your experience. We do not require you to create an account with an email or password.
- Image & Photo Data: Images you upload or capture via the camera for our Calorie Scan feature. These images are processed to identify food items and estimate nutritional values.
C. Device & Usage Data
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and language settings.
- Usage Analytics: App usage patterns, feature interactions, crash reports, and performance diagnostics.
- Subscription Data: Purchase history and subscription status, processed securely via RevenueCat. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
D. Advertising Data
To provide a free version of Periody supported by ads, our advertising partners may collect the following information:
- IP address and coarse location (country/region level only)
- Device advertising identifiers: Android Advertising ID (Google Play) or Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) (iOS)
- General device information (screen size, OS version, language)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
Important: On iOS, we will request your consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before accessing your IDFA. You may deny this request at any time and the app will continue to function normally.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Core Functionality: To calculate cycle predictions, fertile windows, and provide health insights.
- AI Analysis: To analyze food images for calorie tracking and to provide AI-powered educational responses to wellness questions.
- Notifications: To send you optional reminders for your period, ovulation, or medication (with your permission).
- Improvement: To analyze app performance and improve user experience using analytics tools.
- Advertising: To serve personalized or non-personalized advertisements within the free version of the app to keep our core features accessible to everyone. Your health and cycle data is never used for advertising purposes.
4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We do NOT sell your personal data. We integrate with the following trusted third-party services to deliver our app's functionality:
- RevenueCat (Subscription Management): Used to manage app subscriptions and purchases. They may collect an App User ID and purchase history to validate your premium status. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase & Vertex AI: Used for the optional AI Chat assistant, calorie scanning, app analytics, and crash reporting. - Analytics Providers: We use third-party analytics (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics) to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs.
- Google AdMob (Advertising): We use Google AdMob to display ads in our app. AdMob and its advertising partners may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and ad interaction data to serve relevant advertisements. - Payments: We do not store your credit card details. Payments are processed by the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android), subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
5. Advertising & Your Choices
The free version of Periody is ad-supported. You have control over how your data is used for advertising:
- On iOS (Apple): We comply with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. You will be prompted to allow or deny tracking. You can also manage this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or disable personalized ads under Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
- On Android (Google): Go to Settings → Google → Ads, and select "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or "Delete advertising ID".
- Upgrade to Premium: Periody Pro subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience with no advertising data collection.
Note: Opting out of personalized ads means you will still see ads, but they may be less relevant to your interests.
6. Permissions We Request
The App may request the following permissions on your device:
- Camera & Photo Library: Required for the Calorie Scan feature to capture or select food images. We do not access your photos for any other purpose. Images are not stored permanently on our servers after analysis.
- Notifications: To send you optional reminders for your period, ovulation, or medication. You can enable or disable notifications at any time via your device Settings.
- Internet Access: Required for the AI Chat feature, fetching educational content, verifying subscriptions, and serving advertisements.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS only): To request your permission before accessing your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) for personalized advertising.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Your health data and cycle history are stored locally on your device. You can delete all of this information at any time by using the "Reset App" or "Clear Data" feature within the App's Settings. This will permanently wipe your history from the device. Since we do not store your health data on our own servers, we cannot delete it remotely; it must be done from your device.
8. Children's Privacy
This App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete such information. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
9. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Communications with third-party services are encrypted using SSL/TLS technology. Your sensitive health data is stored locally on your device and treated with the highest level of confidentiality. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
10. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA & Global Privacy Laws)
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
